I love the fact that each and every day I get to make a difference to the people who come through my door.

Melinda Sweeney

I started my career as an Osteopath on the other side of the ditch, graduating from RMIT University in Melbourne in 1998 before joining a large team of osteopaths based in Hobart. After relocating to Christchurch I set about establishing Merivale Osteopathy, hand-picking my team from people that I knew shared my passion for the profession and creating an environment where patients and staff alike feel relaxed and at ease. I love the fact that each and every day poses a new challenge. The range of problems our patients come to us with keep us on our toes and constantly forces us to think outside the square, customising treatment plans to suit each individual.

I’m inspired by the idea of making a difference; of improving the lives of our patients by freeing them from pain and helping them build stronger, healthier and more functional bodies.

I work with a huge variety of patients, including pregnant women, seniors and high-level sportspeople, as well as people suffering from any number of complaints and injuries suffered in the workplace. I’m also interested in the area of rehabilitation, having undertaken post-graduate study at AUT University and worked with people recovering from sporting injuries, serious accidents and surgical procedures. I subscribe to the concept that we never stop learning, and I’m always looking to expand my knowledge base and investigate new ways to treat my patients. I’m immensely proud of both the professional service we offer and the friendly atmosphere we’ve created at Merivale Osteopathy, and I look forward to meeting new patients, and working alongside other like-minded practitioners for many years to come!

Melinda is available for bookings on Wednesday morning at Merivale Osteopathy and Monday afternoons at Wairakei Osteopathy.
